No Doubt suing Activision over appearance in Band Hero

So, No doubt is apparently jumping on the “I don’t want my virtual self to sing someone else’s song, mean while in real life I’m fine with doing cover songs” band wagon.
Seriously guys, this started with Cobain, excuse me… Not Kurt, but his rather unscrupulous widow; Courtney Love Cobain, who was later joined by Ex-Nirvana member’s Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic
The LA Times reported that the suit was filed on November the 4th; and it alleges that Activision with held the information about how the avatars could be used; specifically the player’s ability to use the band member’s to perform other artist’s songs. When asked to prevent the use of their virtual figures on other unapproved songs, Activision refused to accommodate the band stating that it would be “to expensive”.
I’ll close with saying this… All of you “musicians” need to get off of your money hungry high horses. Ok, some people will cry that it’s a principle issue; I call bullshit on this one. At the very core of this whole issue is the almighty dollar. Tell me something… When you play other artist songs, say… on the road/ on tour, do they constantly harp at you for money, do they ask you to cease and desist? Don’t get me wrong, I do understand the want and need to prevent your virtual self to be used in anyway a player wants. But if you honestly DO NOT want your avatar to sing a song like Taylor Swift’s – You Belong With Me. If you only want your character to be used in the 2 songs of yours that are in the game, it’s time to take a pay cut.
